The Curriculum

"Kihei Knotting Potential, Securing a Reality" is the curriculum being offered through the Nuiākea distance learning program. This curriculum utilizes the Uluākea process of learning through environment and personal experiences. The Uluākea process is highly reliant upon kaʻao (traditional myths), moʻolelo (legends) and welo ʻohana (family traditions and characteristics) to foundation all experiences.

Engaging The Spirit That Is Hawai'i

"ʻAnoʻai ke aloha iā kākou a pau loa,

My name is Taupčuri Tangarč of the Kīpuka Native Hawaiian Student Center at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo. I, along with a young and vibrant team of practitioners of Hawaiʻi culture, have designed a very dynamic opportunity to bring into your modern living the depth, breadth and promise of Hawaiʻi.

Hawaiʻi is a modern world culture whose origins go back to the fertile organisms of life itself, the Kumulipo. It is the inquiry into this fertile organism that ushers this dynamic opportunity before you.

It is our traditional reality that at conception our welo ʻohana (family physical and character traits) are passed on through the child, and that this welo ‘ohana also includes ancestral memories, thoughts, emotions and experiences.

The reality of this then positions every one of us as having inherited a wealth of ancestral information, that when tapped into, becomes an empowering instrument toward attaining heightened potential in all that we choose to do in life.

Drawing from this Hawaiʻi reality is our personal and professional concern that drives, informs, delivers and measures all that we do, say and think."
